ARTWORKS by Norah McGuinness, John Behan and Arthur Maderson are sure to be a draw at Woodward’s summer sale in Cork City centre next Wednesday at 6pm.

The auction, which features contents from house sales in the Douglas area and Blackrock, will feature a set of six Cork 11 bar dining chairs made by O’Connells (€2,000-€3,000) and a Georgian rosewood card table (€1,000-€2,000).

Three watercolours by Norah McGuinness are estimated at €2,000-€3,000 and a bronze sculpture of a horse by John Behan at 1,000-€2,000.

A large oil by Arthur Maderson is estimated at €3,000-€5,000. Antique furniture continues to represent very good value in the current market. Estimates are reasonable for a Georgian chest on chest (€800-€1,200), a twin pillar dining table (€500-€600), a set of six dining chairs in the Hepplewhite style (€500-€1,000), a circular mahogany centre table €500-€1,000) and a Victorian chest of drawers (€200-€300).

A selection of collectible items includes Waterford glass, silver and plate and porcelain. The sale is on view today from noon to 4pm, from 10am to 5pm. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
