Van Gogh at billionaire’s art event
The annual event renowned for attracting top curators and billionaires in private jets, attracts more than 250 leading dealers from around the world who bring a vast array of museum-quality objects to Maastricht.
TEFAF is divided into sections such as: Paintings; antiques; modern and contemporary design; classical antiquities; haute joallerie and works on paper.
Moulin de la Galette by Van Gogh will be exhibited by Dickinson of London and New York. Painted in Paris at a time when Van Gogh changed from painting sombre scenes of Dutch peasant life, to brightly coloured Post-Impressionist landscapes, it was last exhibited in public in 1965.
This year TEFAF is hosting a loan exhibition of 35 drawings from the National Graphic Arts Collection, Munich. A selection of images, all focussing on the female form and stretching from the 15th to the 20th century, include work from the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain and France. TEFAF runs until March 23.
