c1890 occasional table is tip top feature at sale
A c1890 Killarney occasional table is the feature lot at Woodwards opening sale of 2014 in Cork next Wednesday at 6pm The circular tip top table is classically inlaid with five harp motifs and shamrocks with four panels of floral inlay.
This inlay is repeated on the tapering column and circular plinth.
The table is estimated at €4,000-6,000.
Other lots of antique furniture include a pair of William IV card tables (€3,000-€4,000), a set of ten spoon back dining chairs (€3,000-€4,000), a mahogany teapot (€600-€800), a Gainsborough style Georgian armchair (€1,800-€1,200), a Carlton House desk (€1,000-€1,400), a Georgian Chippendale style table and eight chairs (€2,000-€3,000) and a satinwood bureau bookcase (€1,000-€1,500).
The sale also includes a Georgian sofa table, a sewing table, a gilt framed overmantle mirror, a pair of Georgian hall benches and a Georgian three section economy table.
Collectibles include an autograph album from the Hare Park internment camp at the Curragh, stamp albums, silver, and porcelain.
Artists featured include Peter Knuttel, Arthur Maderson, Victor Richardson, James Flack, Sean McCarthy, Majella O’Neill-Collins and Tim Goulding.
The auction is on view from 2pm to 5pm today and tomorrow and from 10am to 5pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
