GADGET LOVERS: The silver surfers are embracing technology and purchasing the latest gadgets with as much enthusiasm as consumers half their age, according to the latest research. Described as GOOFS — Gadget Obsessed Over Fifties — the survey by the Gadget Show in Britain revealed that 94% of this group owned a digital camera, 81% a lap top, 73% a smart phone, 61% an iPod and 40% a Kindle.

Matt Hodgins, director of the Gadget Show, said: “The over 50s often have more disposable cash for high-end products.’’
