Country house collectibles on offer at Bandon sale

Historic portraits and country house collectibles are a feature of Hegarty’s sale in Bandon next Tuesday (Jul 3) at 7pm.
There is property from Annadale House built c1760 near Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim and items from Bunratty Castle and Castle Locke, home of the Studdert, Parker and Spaight families. A pair of oil portraits of Captain William Spaight and his wife, Millicent Anne Studdert is estimated at €2,000-€4,000. A British Army captain of the 65th Regiment he served at Bunker Hill during the American War of Independence. He died in 1801 at his seat at Corbally, Co Clare.
The sale will feature antique furniture in untouched country house condition including a 19th century marquetry longcase clock (€3,000-€5,000), an 18th century Irish side table (€1,500-€2,500), a Georgian Irish tallboy (€1,000-€2,000), an Irish Chippendale fold-over card table (€2,500-€3,500), a Killarney wine table with an armorial crest (€2,000-€4,000), an 18th century Irish plate bucket (€700-€1,000) and an early walnut lowboy.
There is an oak longcase clock and a 17th century blanket chest that survived the London blitz when the family’s home in St John’s Wood suffered a direct hit. Collectibles on offer include around 20 lots of silver, miniature portraits and a military cap badge. Viewing is from 11am to 5pm today and Monday, from 2pm to 6pm tomorrow and from 11am to the start of the sale at 7pm on Tuesday.
