Beauty buzz

Arguably the beauty launch that’s gotten the editors the most excited, the Tom Ford Beauty Colour Collection debuts exclusively at Brown Thomas, Dublin, today. Among many drool-worthy products, the palettes are stellar. And yes, super-pricey at €75 a go, but ladies, this is Tom Ford, and we’d expect nothing less at such luxury positioning. These 10 beautiful colour edits for eyes contain elegant finishes, gorgeous pigmentation and mini brushes you’ll actually want to use. Total lust-have stuff — get saving.

Ace of Base

Liz Earle’s mid-September-launching Sheer Skin Tint, €23.75, is designed as a bridge between care and colour, but this is no mere tinted moisturiser. In three shades, it’s a great five minute face product that delivers sheer coverage, an SPF15 and a dose of skin-friendly ingredients like antioxidants and vitamin E.

Scentsational: Fall for one of these new season spritzes

Jo Malone Bluebell, from €42

Aimed at a younger audience, Bluebell, and its predecessor, English Pear and Freesia, mark a new direction for this quintessentially British perfumer. Sweet and fresh on a first spritz, this dries down to a subtly woody, proper bluebell experience that’s really unique. Light enough to be wearable and not overpowering, it’s a great daytime scent.

Elie Saab Le Parfum, from €50

Ideal for brides, Saab is most famous for his fairytale gowns and his debut scent, Le Parfum, was created by crack scenteur Francis Kurkdjian, so it’s got perfume pedigree. It’s a sexy, heady floral with lots of jasmine and thankfully avoids the trend for saccharine sweetness. Wear with attitude.

Stella Eau de Parfum, €49

Can’t afford one of her dresses? Well who can, in fairness? So bag a limited edition bottle of Stella McCartney’s signature fragrance, Stella, instead. Currently festooned with prints from her Spring/Summer 2011 collection, the trio is available at Boots now, going nationwide in October.

Box Clever

Now, here’s a smart prospect: Glossybox is a subscription beauty sampling service delivering luxury trial sizes direct to your door. Beautifully packaged, your parcel will contain generous testers of new-to-you brands for around €15 each month. It’s like an Open University correspondence course of beauty! www.glossybox.co.uk

Lash Back and Line Up

How’s about this for a smart idea? The Luminizer collection from L’Oréal Paris is all about enhancing your eye colour, thanks to carbon black pigments shot through with subtle blue, green or brown accents. Choose Volume Million Lashes mascara, right, €16.99, and Superliner, left, €9.85, in a shade to flatter and bat those lashes as if your life depended on it.

Face Off

Estée Lauder’s Pure Colour Illuminating Powder Gelée, €34, is more than a mere highlighter: the high tech formulation means this mixes well with water to transform into a gel and a good pigmentation concentration ensures it can be worn as an eyeliner, as well as lightly dusted across the planes of the face.
