The annual competition to find Ireland’s best butchers’ sausages is underway with regional competitions in Mallow, Nenagh, Carrick-on-Suir and Kill, Co Kildare.

There was a wide range of speciality sausages, traditional ‘breakfast sausages’, black and white puddings and drisheen. Results on www.craftbutchers.ie

ACBI Chief Executive Pat Brady said that entries in the competition were up this year reflecting recognition of increased demand by consumers for something ‘that little bit different’.
