Wexford lands make over €23k/acre at auction
The 27-acre farm in Wexford was laid out in six divisions of grassland, with public road frontage on two sides.
Last week, it was the turn of another smaller holding in Wexford to breach the €20k/acre mark at auction.
This time, it was a 27-acre farm at Glendoyne, 5km south of Courtown and close to the sandy coastline of the Model County. The auction was an online affair, with David Quinn of Gorey-based Quinn Property at the helm of proceedings.
The holding was laid out in six divisions of grassland, with public road frontage on two sides. It was presented in two lots: Lot 1 (16 acres) and Lot 2 (11 acres), as well as the entire.
“Our online auction last Tuesday (27th October) generated strong competition between the individual lots and the entire holding,” said David, “with eight registered bidders actively competing throughout the various rounds of bidding.
“Following the initial round, the individual lots were making €560,000, with further rounds seeing the bidding continue to advance as interest remained strong. The individual lots eventually peaked at €620,000.
“However, following a competitive auction, the hammer ultimately fell on a final bid of €630,000 for the entire holding.”
David Quinn said the land had been guided at €15,000 to €18,000 per acre and achieved a final price of just over €23,300 per acre. This represents a very strong result, comfortably exceeding the quoted guide and reflecting the continued demand for quality agricultural land in the current market.
The holding was successfully purchased by a local farmer, highlighting the appeal of the property to buyers in the surrounding farming community.
