Top quality holding on West Cork coast guiding €14-€17k/acre
The 90-acre coastal Brownstone House.
Over the last couple of decades, the steady rise in demand for the productive zone of West Cork’s most eastern areas around Bandon and Clonakilty have made it a property hotspot.
The combination of investors and highly progressive farmers have a powerful effect on the land market and a substantial holding in this area will be one of the ones to watch over the coming months.
The farm in question is known as Brownstown House and is a 90-acre coastal property only 2km from Ardfield village and 8km from Clonakilty.
According to selling agent John Hodnett of Clonakilty-based auctioneers Hodnett Forde Property Services, this is a unique opportunity to acquire a coastal property of real quality.
“The lands extend to 90 acres,” says John, “of which 78 are of top quality. This is currently under maize, cereal and pasture. The remaining 12 acres would be described as rough grazing ground.”

Access is good and the attraction of having one’s own private beach guarantees interest from many sources at home and abroad, especially with the added attraction of a two-storey traditional farmhouse.
“The residence is located within 500 metres of Ballycusheen Beach,” says John. “It has been unoccupied for a number of years, so it will qualify for the Home Improvement Grant.”
The guide price is between €1,300,000 and €1,500,000 (€14,000-€17,000/acre).
