84-acre Kerry holding near landmark pub on the market for €250,000
Some views from the 84-acre hill farm at Coomavohir, Waterville, Co Kerry.
An 84-acre Kerry hill farm is attracting no shortage of global attention, according to Killarney-based selling agent Ken O’Sullivan.
Located on the Iveragh Peninsula near Waterville, it's presented in three lots:
- Lot 1 consists of 54.5 acres of land with about a 145-acre share of adjoining mountain commonage;
- Lot 2 is 28 acres of land with river frontage;
- Lot 3 is a stone outbuilding on 1.45 acres;
- Lot 4 is the entire holding.
“This farm is about 7km from the Inny Tavern,” says Mr O'Sullivan of the property, which is in the townland of Coomavohir. This pub and shop made headlines last September when it was purchased by the local community, who rescued it from a fate that has become all too common for rural pubs in Ireland.
It has all added to the interest in the property which, the auctioneer admits, has taken him somewhat by surprise.
“The amount of interest in it is startling, to be honest,” says Mr O'Sullivan. “There’s quite a bit of interest. A lot of the enquiries are from people who are originally from South Kerry but who are based in places like Australia and who want to move back.”
The attraction of the derelict building on Lot 3 is a clear hook, but there is interest in the generous quantity of land too, he adds.
The guide price for the overall property is €250,000 (€3,000/acre) — an attractive holding whichever way you look at it.
