Farmland close to Cork City always catches the eye, and a new 60-acre farm at Curraghbeg near Ovens, County Cork is attracting plenty of interest in the area.

The property in question, for sale with Clonakilty-based Hodnett Forde Property Services, is 3km north of the village of Ovens  — just west of Cork City and near Inniscarra Dam.

The lands are predominantly laid out in tillage, but also contain pastureland and a small amount of forestry.

With ample road frontage and three distinct elements, the farm is presented in the following lots:

  • Lot A – a 32-acre holding featuring mostly excellent tillage ground, plus grassland and heavier scrub. It has internal farm road and access from its northern and southern boundaries;
  • Lot B – 1.5 acres containing a traditional three-bedroom residence needing refurbishment, along with farm buildings and a collection of sheds also in need of modernising;
  • Lot C – 26.5 acres of grass, scrub, and forestry, with road frontage and multiple access points.

"There’s a lot of interest in this from farmers and investors,” says selling agent Andy Donoghue, noting that the three lots are drawing interest from three different cohorts of client.

The overall price expectation is €1m. Lot A is guiding €475,000-€500,000 (€15k/acre). Lot B is guiding €250,000, and Lot C — currently under offer — is guiding €250,000 (€9,400/acre).
