In 2023, the price gap was still €174 between Ireland and Poland and nearly €200 between Ireland and France.

Ireland has the EU’s highest fertiliser import prices, according to a revealing new report on the European market.

In 2022, imported urea was €185 per tonne more expensive in Ireland than in Poland or Germany, says Grupa Azoty, a Polish company which is a key player in the European fertiliser and chemical industry. In 2022, it cost nearly €800 to import urea into Ireland, compared to about €680 in France, and about €600 in Poland or Germany.
