The surveillance system will use the One Health approach for cross-border pathogens that threaten the island and the European Union.

DAFM will soon be at the helm of a new coordination of an all-island research initiative focussed on setting up a coordinated surveillance system utilising the One Health approach for cross-border pathogens that threaten the island and the European Union, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue has announced.

Minister McConalogue commented: "Representatives from my Department joined delegates from other research institutions on the island on June 13 to officially launch the Direct Action project One Health: All Ireland for European Surveillance (OH-ALLIES).
