Strong interest in 58-acre holding outside Killarney

Property to be sold in two lots, both with good road access, in area dominated by dairy sector
Strong interest in 58-acre holding outside Killarney

The property is laid out in grass, with road frontage onto both lots and would be ideal for someone looking to add to an existing holding or as a standalone operation.

A 58.5-acre property near Killarney, Co Kerry, is new to the market with Killarney-based auctioneers Property Partners Gallivan.

The holding, at Sheans West, 7km northwest of Killarney, is presented in two lots — Lot 1 of 20.4 acres and Lot 2 of 38 acres.

The property is laid out in grass, with road frontage onto both lots and would be ideal for someone looking to add to an existing holding or as a standalone operation.

“Most of the property would be of good quality,” says Jonathon Greene of Property Partners Gallivan. “There is a small portion of it that isn’t farmable but 90% of it is.”

The eventual buyer, Mr Greene says, is probably likely to be a local one.

“It will probably be sold in two lots,” he says. “At least, going by the way enquiries are at the moment, that seems to be the more likely outcome.”

The area is strong in a number of agricultural sectors, with dairying being the dominant one and a number of important operations in the locality.

“The access is good,” says Mr Greene. “It adjoins the roadside and the land is well-drained… there may also be the possibility of getting planning permission to build a home.”

The interest has been strong, he says, but there have not been any bids on the property at the time of writing.

The price guide for the entire holding is €800,000 (€13,700/acre), with a guide of €305,000 (€15,000/acre) for Lot 1 and €495,000 (€13,000/acre) for Lot 2.
