Two farms sold and two to go in Macroom area
As if further proof were needed that farm sales are ploughing on regardless of unprecedented conditions, a couple of recent results from Killian Lynch Auctioneer in Macroom underline the constant nature of Munster land sales.
A 40-acre residential holding in the townland of Milleens was sale-agreed recently, for an undisclosed sum believed to be very close to the guide price of €450,000 (€11,000/acre).
Situated 7km from Macroom, the holding featured on these pages on March 26.
The agent further confirmed that a 47-acre farm in the townland of Muinafluic (also close to the West Cork town) which was due for public auction on April 2, sold instead behind closed doors for a figure “well in excess of the guide price of €240,000”.
Another farm listed by the auctioneer that was featured on these pages on March 26 will be the subject of final offers today (May 7) at 12 noon.
It’s a 74-acre residential farm in the townland of Annagannihy, 12km north of Macroom, with mixed quality land. The price guide is €460,000 (€6,200/acre) and the current highest offer is €430,000.
Finally, the agent says that the sale of yet another residential farm will be brought to final offers this day week, May 14, at 3pm. Featured on these pages on February 27 last, as a 137-acre holding, the acreage for sale has now increased to 151.
