Keen interest in farm sale at Donoughmore in mid-Cork
Billed as ‘excellent land in a strategic location’, a 52-acre holding in the mid-Cork agricultural stronghold of Lackabane, Donoughmore, couldn’t be more accurately described by the selling agent, Blarney-based auctioneer Dan Fleming.
The farm in question is located in the heart of Donoughmore, with a long stretch of road frontage, right beside the local church, pubs and Donoughmore GAA Club.
The property is not only located in one of Munster’s agricultural strongholds (only a stone’s throw from New Tipperary) where some extraordinary land prices have been achieved in recent years, and it is also brimming with commercial possibility.
Its commercial credentials befit a small village, but they will surely be a factor in determining the value of this fascinating holding.
“It’s adjacent to the village,” says Dan. “It’s adjoining the GAA pitch, and it has double road frontage.”
The property is offered in two lots. It is well maintained and laid out, according to the selling agents, with internal roadways and electric fencing.
“The quality of the land here is first class,” says Dan. “There’s great soil in this farm and it’s beautiful and level.”
There aren’t any entitlements with the farm, currently being used for dairying.
It has only just appeared on the market, so it is a little early to gauge reaction.
However, it is safe to say that interest will be strong, in this dairy stronghold, with the division of the lots allowing a wider range of potentially interested parties to get involved in the bidding.
The lots are divided naturally by a public roadway.
There’s one field for each lot (31 acres and 21 acres respectively). With local farms having made between €12,000 and €18,000 per acre, this property will be expected to achieve a similar price.
