Located south of the twin villages of Ballineen and Enniskeane in West Cork, a 34-acre grass holding for sale with Clonakilty-based auctioneer Henry O’Leary is a quality piece of land in a part of the world very much dominated by the dairying sector.

“We’re offering it either all together or in two lots,” says selling agent Henry. “It’s a good piece of land in dairy country, so you’d expect a good bit of local interest in it.”

The non-residential farm is located in the townland of Shanaway, approximately 4km south of Ballineen, which is part of the extended double village of Ballineen and Enniskeane that stretches along the main Cork-Dunmanway road.

Clonakilty is 12km south, Dunmanway is 13km west of here and Bandon is approximately 18km to the east.

“There’s a nice bit of interest,” says Henry. “It’s only up a week or so and it’s already under offer.”

The offer in question is for the entire holding, although the property is offered for sale with the choice of two separate lots as well.

Lot 1 consists of 13 acres at the northern end of the farm, and Lot 2 is the remaining 21-acre portion.

The property lends itself quite easily to sub-division, as it enjoys a 700-metre stretch of road frontage along its western boundary.

The land has been rented over the years, but it has been very well farmed, in fairness, and it’s coming to the market in tip-top condition.

There aren’t any entitlements going with this quality holding of “gently sloping, easily worked land, with a warm southerly aspect”.
