Connemara Pony Show celebrates 94th year

The 94th anniversary of the Connemara Pony Show will be officially celebrated at Clifden, Co Galway, on Thursday.
Connemara Pony Show celebrates 94th year

Agriculture Minister Michael Creed will officially open the show which is part of a festival which begins today and continues until Sunday. The show is the high point of the year for the Connemara Pony Breeders Society headed by chairman Noel Brett.

The society was founded in 1923 for the preservation and improvement of the native Irish pony breed. Visitors come to Clifden every August to see the best of Connemara ponies being shown, performance tested and competing in jumping classes.
