A three-year instalments plan to help dairy farmers settle their 2014-15 superlevy bill was 99% paid up in 2016, year two of the plan.

Heading into 2017, year three, only €50,000 owed by seven farmers remained overdue to be paid to the Department of Agriculture.

“We have no intention of giving up on the €50,000,” said the Department’s General Secretary, Aidan O’Driscoll, last week.
