Machinery and equipment: Pick of the new implements launched at the Ploughing
The 2016 Ploughing Championship enters its final day near Tullamore today.
The past two days have proved to be a real treat for machinery lovers, with Irish manufacturers coming to the fore with the latest innovations.
While the larger tractors pulled the crowds, many might have been tyre kicking dreamers.
The real business interest was in some of the latest implement launches.
Here is a brief summary of some of this week’s highlights.
One of the newest manufacturers displayed a machine that they claim is the future in crop wilting.
Acres Machinery from Roscommon launched their Supercrop 1 at the event.
The machine combines raking, tedding and conditioning into one. Unique in many aspects, it has generated a lot of international trade interest.
The raking equipment offers the option of belt or mechanical driven, depending on application. It sits as a slick wing design outside the conditioner.
The patent pending three-way folding system ensures compact and neat folding on the main frame when not in use, or for transport.
The heavy-duty conditioner rotor has six galvanised tines.
The rotor drum can be adjusted to suit ground clearance requirements.
The machine’s unique twin lift speeds the lift process and helps crop clearance.
The rear tedder has two rotors which are position and speed adjustable. Mounted on an independent arm, the tedder can be raised or lowered into position hydraulically.
Mayo manufacturer, McHale, had their new McHale F5600Plus on show.
The fully automatic film binding baler is the latest innovation in their round baler range.
There is a 25-knife chopper unit with 46mm chop length.
Unblocking, film/net adjustment and density can all be adjusted from the cab with the Expert Plus control console.
It incorporates the Fusion high capacity rotor.
A bale kicker sensor is fitted as standard.
Hi-Spec
Staying in Ireland, Hi-spec showcased their impressive de-mountable unit.
Available with the Kompactor and the vacuum tanker currently, it offers users the reduced cost of shared running gear and chassis.
On display on their Ploughing stand was the 3500 tanker and the 36 Kompactor trailer.
Also on their exhibition space was the prototype Autocut mower.
The 9-metre butterfly type system is a new venture for the Carlow company.
The machine requires 220hp and has a transport width of 3.1 metres.
It has a V-shape conditioner with a width of 2.8 metres.
Jeantil
Tom Shaw displayed a Jeantil muck spreader that demanded attention.
The 15 cubic metre load capacity rear discharge spreader has 1.9 metre high Hardox rotors.
The large red spreader has on-board hydraulics and electronic controls.
It comes with DLG certified spread patterns.
Flexifinger
First-time exhibitors at the ploughing, Flexifinger from Canada drew high volumes of interest in their Quicker Picker.
The stone picker can be mounted on any skid loader.
It has been diversified on farms, with uses including beet washing and even cement mixing.
It is constructed to work in all soil types, and is effective in land clearing for tree stumps too.
