Kerrygold Park’s official opening this week in Mitchelstown, Co Cork, as the new global home for the manufacturing and packaging of Kerrygold butter products continues a 54-years timeline for one of Ireland’s best known products.

In 1962, the Kerrygold brand name was chosen by An Bord Bainne from 60 suggestions, when the brand was launched, not in Ireland, but in the UK.

The export emphasis continued, with markets such as Gibraltar, Malta, Cyprus, Middle East, Gulf States, the Canary Islands, the Caribbean and Asia quickly accessed.
