Meat Industry Ireland says Brexit could threaten €2bn meat exports

The Ibec member says the June 23 vote is a threat to the €2bn of meat Ireland exports into Britain each year.
“We remain hopeful the UK will remain in the EU,” an MII spokesperson said.
“While we believe the sheer scale of the trade flows in meat, our traditional trading links and the strong B2B relationships that exist, will ensure trade continues, implications of a Brexit range from potential increased cost of doing business, day-to-day customs and certification implications and a concern the UK’s ability to conclude bilateral trade deals with other international countries e.g. Brazil, could undermine the competitive position of Irish meat exports and jeopardise future market opportunities in the UK.”
