Dick Roche says EU reversal on mandate for bioethanol defies logic

The European Commission’s decision to scrap its mandate for bioethanol use defies logic, said Dick Roche, the ex-environment minister who is currently an advisor to Hungary’s Pannonia ethanol company.

The EU has dropped its target of “at least 10%” of public transport in EU member states to come from renewable energy sources by 2020.

In an article he wrote for Euractiv.com, he said this shift has created a biofuel “zombie industry”.
