Technology: Austrian forage wagon leader is alpine specialist

Pöttinger, the world’s leading manufacturer of loader wagons, has a built-in selling point for hill farmers — the company’s experience of providing machinery over many decades for the alpine farmers within reach if its headquarters in Austria.
Technology: Austrian forage wagon leader is alpine specialist

This experience has resulted in the Boss wagons, designed for high output and smooth running while safe on the slopes of hilly farms.

Now, Pöttinger has launched new Boss versions, the 211, 251 and 291.

Replacing the Boss LT series, these Boss Alpin machines have a floating pick-up with a freedom of movement of 150 mm, and a hydraulic tailgate.

As an option, a hydraulic automatically-controlled pivoting drawbar is available.

The machines are fitted with Autotast continuous sensing of the position of each end of the pick-up, to control the ideal spacing of the pick-up and loading unit.

This is designed for perfect ground tracking and forage collection in difficult, bumpy, hilly terrain.

The constant height regulation also protects the pick-up, and makes the flow of forage from the pick-up to the loading unit more uniform.

In addition, automatic adjustment of the pick-up system reduces driver stress.

The system works with a forward speed whilst loading of up to 8 km per hour.

As on the larger Pöttinger loader wagon models, the Boss Alpin range is now available with modern select and direct control operating systems.

As standard, the machine is operated hydraulically directly from tractor remotes
