Early offers for well drained limestone land in Glanworth, Co Cork
“It’s all the best of ground,” says selling agent Michael O’Donovan.
“Well-drained limestone ground.
“There are already offers on each of the three lots.”
All three lots have good frontage and are well located, being close to the M8 motorway and within a short drive of Cork city.
The expectation is that quality farmland such as this will fetch in the region of €12,000 per acre.
It’s a figure that might even prove conservative in the final analysis, given the fact that nearby farms have well exceeded that in the last 12 months.
The 45-acre lot in the townland of Johnstown is laid out in nine dry south-facing fields with good road frontage, according to the agents.
There is a three-column hay barn with lean-to and an old stone building gives it the potential of qualifying for planning permission in the future.
The property in Ballinroe is a 13-acre non-residential property within walking distance (0.75km) of Glanworth. Again, the land is well-drained limestone ground.
The 19-acre parcel in the townland of Moneen is a similar distance from Glanworth, presenting possibilities for the hobby farmer.
This is the only one of the three lots that is currently in stubble.
According to Michael, the majority of the interest emanates from the locality, where the dairying sector is dominant, but which is also noted for bloodstock and tillage activity.
