On completion of the 16-month course the farmers will return home and use their new knowledge to help their local community.

Volunteers in Irish Veterinary Assistance, the charity responsible for this initiative, was founded to support livestock farmers in the developing world. The 400 farming families in Mbale Co-op use ploughs pulled by oxen to till the land. Their crop yields and incomes have been transformed. So far, 276 oxen and 69 ploughs have been distributed.
