Bryan bid for Hogan seat

Bryan (61) said he would be interested in standing for Fine Gael in the Kilkenny/Carlow by-election resulting from Hogan’s appointment as European Commission.
The by-election is likely to take place in May.
Mr Bryan, who farms in South Kilkenny, said, “I have heard the town argument , but I would have as good a profile as anyone.
“Geographically I am well placed, with Carlow also nearby’’.
Mr Bryan would not be the only former IFA boss to seek election for Fine Gael. His IFA predecessor Alan Gillis was elected to the European Parliament in 1994, and was an unsuccessful Dail candidate in Kildare South in 2007.
