Germinal Seeds hires grassland expert to deliver technical advice
The company was founded in Belfast in 1825. It also employs 24 people at its operation in Horse and & Jockey, Co Tipperary.
Dr McEvoy is to formally join Germinal on October 1, having departed her role as a grassland research officer with Teagasc Moorepark, in Fermoy, Co Cork.
She will work closely with Germinal’s agricultural sales team, agri merchants, co-op stores, farmer customers, and industry partners.
Much of Dr McEvoy’s work in Moorepark involved delivering technical information, training, research liaison, and networking primarily in Ireland but also in Britain. She is also the author of numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications.
“This new role will significantly increase the technical support that we are able to offer our agricultural customers and raise Germinal Seeds’ profile with important contacts,” said Oliver Vaughan, the Germinal Ireland managing director.
“Dr McEvoy has been an important member of the Teagasc Moorepark grassland research team for a number of years and her work is well known and respected in Ireland, in particular.
“[Dr McEvoy] has outstanding scientific and practical experience in grassland production, which is the most important sector in Irish agriculture and the key to productivity and profitable livestock production.
“Dr McEvoy’s contribution in technical areas will be fundamental to our business going forward and to the future success of Irish farmers.”
