Energy crop demand is an opening for Irish firms

Strong demand for energy crops, such as forage maize and straw, is pricing livestock farmers in Britain out of the market.

This is an opportunity for Irish concrete manufacturers, and for companies such as Samco, from Co Limerick, with their patented system to grow forage maize under cover.

Several Irish companies were at the recent Livestock Event in England, to take advantage of the British energy-crop upsurge.
