Five producers honoured at coveted Euro-Toques Food Awards 2014

Five food producers were honoured at yesterday’s EirGrid Euro-Toques Food Awards 2014 at the Residence Club, Dublin.

They are buffalo mozzarella cheese producers Toby Simmonds and Johnny Lynch from Toonsbridge Dairy in Macroom, Co Cork; cured and smoked venison producer Ed Hick of J Hick & Sons, Dublin; speciality mushroom producers Lucy Deegan and Mark Cribben of Ballyhoura Mountain Mushrooms, in Co Cork; harvested sea salt producers Marjorie and Kieran O’Malley of Achill Island Sea Salt, Co Mayo; and Mick Healy of Wild Irish Game in Co Wicklow.

Euro-Toques commissioner general Wade Murphy, of 1826 Adare restaurant in Adare, said: “All five winners are true champions of Irish produce and deserved recipients of these coveted awards.

“All of these winners have been innovative in preserving traditional techniques and bringing products to market, ensuring quality traditional farming and produce does not just survive, but it thrives.”
