Sea view comes free with attractive holding
Another view of the field at Ballycotton, Co Cork.
A sloping, grassy field within a hundred yards of the sea at Ballycotton might tempt a layman to invest in agriculture, especially as a crop of potatoes, (in a good year), could yield very nice returns, thank you.
Well, that’s kinda the pitch being made by auctioneer, Michael Russell who’s selling the field at Ballycotton for offers in the region of €80,000 and with the slope and the sun and the soft, sea breeze, perhaps some balls of flour might come out of it this year.
Right now, it’s under grass, (but spuds love new ground), and it would also suit drystock, for which it’s been used up to now.
The property runs to 12 acres to the east of the picturesque seaside village of Ballycotton and is only half an hour from Cork city with Midleton town in between.
However, turning this plot of ground into a residential holding might not be on the cards, unless the land is owned by a farmer but a field of spuds might or might not qualify.
