Barryroe Co-op tops milk price league

Barryroe Co-op has paid tribute to its milk suppliers for consistently producing high quality milk and having it collected in a most cost-efficient manner — helping the co-op again top the KPMG/Irish Farmers Journal audited milk price league for 2012.

Barryroe topped the table, continuing its excellent track record over the past number of years — topping the table in 2012, placed second in 2011 and 2010, and on top again in 2009.

The role of Carbery and its sustained strong performance must be acknowledged also, according to Barryroe Co-op.

The four West Cork co-ops which own and supply Carbery paid an average 32.94 cent per litre, a significant 1.82 cent per litre ahead of their nearest challenger, Dairygold Co-op.

Barryroe paid 33.3c, Lisavaird 32.97c, Bandon 32.94c and Drinagh 32.54c. Dairygold was next in the table with 31.12c.

The average paid for manufacturing milk in 2012 by the 13 milk price review participants was 30.81c, with Aurivo Co-op (formerly Connacht Gold) 13th with 28.38c.
