271 acres of good land in Cork

A large holding, which is generating much interest, is new to the market with Joe McCarthy, of Irish and European.
271 acres of good land in Cork

The holding of 271 acres, (110 hectares) is in the tongue-twisting townland of Knockriblihane, Dunmanway, Co Cork, straddles some of the county’s more marginal acreage, on the road from Cork to Kealkil, via Coppeen.

However, it’s not as isolated as it sounds, says Mr McCarthy, who says there has been unprecedented interest in the property.

For the area, it has some very good land, Mr McCarthy says, and has been used in the past for grazing cattle and sheep.

It also includes a house — in need of considerable renovation (but not beyond repair, despite the unattractive photograph) — and all in all it offers a viable entity for local and outside farmers

There are 20 acres of good grassland around the house, says Mr McCarthy, and another 70 acres is under forestry with, perhaps, the potential for more, subject to planning permission.

The remaining 180 acres would be rough, mountain terrain, says Mr McCarthy, who is selling the house and lands by private treaty.

And while the house needs investment to be habitable, the farmyard offers reasonable accommodation, with a three-column shed of 45’ x 20’, a cubicle house of 65’ x 40’ with 56 cubicles, as well as a cattle crush, a holding yard with concrete base, and other outbuildings.

The property is located off the road west to Bantry and Castletownbere, and the R585 road to Dunmanway, and the price for the private treaty sale is €320,000 for the entire.
