Heavier cattle dearer after icy roads hit supply

While the Government, the supermarkets and the processing sector this week awaited further developments in the horse burger saga, those whose livelihoods depend on the strength of the live cattle trade went about their business in the only way they could — as normal.

Of more immediate effect for them was the snow in some areas which limited the cattle supply.

One of those marts affected by the weather was Kilmallock on Monday.
