Marts: MORE buyers at the ringsides led to a surge in demand and higher prices for store cattle at the mart sales yesterday with choice bullocks selling for more than €500 over €/kg as the spring trade took off.

STORE cattle prices strengthened further at the marts with larger supplies on offer yesterday, with some record prices being paid for beef animals.

THREE principal continental breeds now control more that 80% of suckler herd breeding animals.
