Drake joins the top flight at Dairy Show

Stephen Cadogan reports from the National Dairy Show at Millstreet.

NORTH Kilkenny farmer John C Murphy broke into the top flight of Irish dairy breeders with a surprise Irish Examiner championship at last Saturday’s National Dairy Show.

Entered in the confined cow in milk class for exhibitors who have not won first or second prizes at any national show in the previous three years showing, the Murphys’ five-year-old cow, Ardnasalem Drake Walburga, won that class, and was declared confined cow champion.
