Auction of 101-acre farm at New Inn, Co Tipperary

“IT’S not where I start, it’s where I finish,” was John Stokes response to a query on the starting price of last week’s auction of a 101-acre holding at Marlhill, New Inn, Co Tipperary.

Bidding was brisk and Stokes said it was great to see so many farmers in the room. The property was offered in three lots, but sold in two lots.

The first, 60 acres of prime land, sold for €540,000, and the second, a 40-acre lot, sold for €310,000. In all, the farm made €8,500 per acre and the vendors and agent were very pleased, says Stokes.
