Inniscarra-Ballincollig an ideal host for meeting

ONE of the oldest ICA guilds in Cork hosted the county’s Federation meeting earlier this month.

Inniscarra-Ballincollig Guild was founded in 1935 by Ita Judge, and was one of seven guilds involved in setting up Cork Federation in Bandon’s town hall in January 1936.

Over the years, the guild has provided many officers to the Federation. Members have four times held the presidency, while Phil Courtney served as federation secretary, Cathy O’Neill was mid-Cork crafts promoter, and Marie Daly was contests secretary and press officer. Today, the guild’s president, Liz McSweeney, is also mid-Cork vice-president.
