59 acres to sell

JUST 100 yards from the main Cork/Clonakilty road at Pedlar’s Cross, this 59-acre farm in the west Cork countryside should pique local interest.

59 acres to sell

The farm at Lisnacunna Ballinascarthy is on both sides of the main road and is laid out in large paddocks in a mix of pasture and tillage. In fact, maize has just been cut there, says Jim O’Brien of CCM who’s handling this private treaty sale. A residential farm, the property comes with a significant house and yard, (immediately accessible from the road and set behind electronic gates), and this can be sold as part of one lot.

The house has five-bed accommodation and had been a B&B back in the days of H&C in every room. It’s in good condition and while considerably old, has modern fittings. The farmyard comprises a cubicle house that’s fairly modern, but hasn’t been used in a while, hay shed with lean-tos, machinery sheds, old milking parlours and some stone outbuildings.

The property has 41.5 acres on one side and 17.5 on the other and will be sold in four lots. The first is the residence and farmyard on 17.5 acres, the second, the residence and yard on 3.5 acres; lot three is 14 acres and lot four is 41.5 acres.

The guide is in the region of €10,000 per acre overall and Jim O’Brien is fairly confident about the market at the moment: “Farming in good at the moment — farmer’s are even admitting it themselves and the land should make €10,000 an acre — I would hope so anyway, because all sales in the area are making that now.”
