Know your rights for audits by Revenue

A Revenue audit can be a stressful and unpleasant experience. To be fair, this is usually because of the nature of an audit rather than the Revenue’s approach.

Indeed, all taxpayers are entitled to rely on Revenue’s customer service charter, ensuring that the taxpayer must be dealt with in an efficient, confidential, courteous and fair manner by Revenue. A taxpayer should be treated by Revenue as honest in their dealings with Revenue, unless there is clear reason to believe otherwise.
