Ireland’s Nantwich cheese winners congratulated by IDB
The world’s largest cheese show attracted 3,200 entrants from 24 countries. The IDB welcomed gold and silver awards for Carbery’s mature cheddar, reduced-fat cheese and Dubliner; a silver for Glanbia-manufactured vegetarian cheese, and four bronze awards for cheeses created by Wexford, Carbery and Newmarket Creameries.
Carbery won gold medal awards for its reduced-fat cheese, its half-fat and extra mature cheddar, having already won gold awards earlier this summer at the Bath and West Cheese Show, for its half-fat and reduced-fat cheeses, and for Dubliner cheese.
At Nantwich, IDB subsidiary, Meadow Cheese, took gold for its soft cheese with horseradish, a silver for its low-melt red Leicester, and bronze awards in three other categories.
Among other Irish cheese manufacturers, Wexford Creameries won three golds, one silver and two bronze; Glanbia was awarded two gold and one silver, in two cheddar categories; and Carbery won two gold, three silver and two bronze.
Dairygold Ingredients (UK) won three gold, one silver and a bronze award.
