Bursting with potential

A PERIOD residence in a deleterious condition, but with potential, comes as part of a package of 45 acres plus quota at Coppeen, Enniskeane, Co Cork.

Bursting with potential

The land, which includes 45 acres of land and a quota of 6,721, is an executor’s sale and is being handled by Paddy Murray of ERA Paddy Murray Auctioneers, who is prepared to sell in lots.

A roadside holding, the property is divided in three with one lot of very good grassland and the rest on the heavy side, he says, with three acres needing reclamation.

The residence, formerly known as Coppeen House, used to be regarded as a ‘gentry house’ in the area, says Murray and had been in occupation until relatively recently. The fact that it has gone to seed is a pity, he says, but has the makings of a fine home with a bit of work.

He gives a guide in the region of €150,000 for the house and €450,000 for the land and 6,721 gallons of quota. The sale is by private treaty and the agent is open to negotiation on lots. Meanwhile, another sale conducted by Paddy Murray is being brought to final offers.

Launched last year at a guide price of €600,000, but now bid in excess of €500,000, the 50-acre, Mount Pleasant, Bandon farm is close to being sold and best bids are invited, says Murray. The land comes with a range of excellent cubicle houses, he says, which would cost €100,000-plus to build today and the land is in a single block with central roadway and access via laneway.

In the parish of Newcestown, the Mount Pleasant farm is highly accessible, within four miles of Bandon and close to the main Cork/ Macroom road. Mostly under grass, it’s also suitable for tillage, says Murray, and is an ideal add-on.
