Kerry farmers concerned

A VERY large group of Kerry dairy farmers held a meeting on April 12 in conjunction with the National Milk Rights Group (NMRG) to discuss the future of family dairy farms.

They are very concerned at the volatility and low price of milk and are very much in agreement with the policies of the Milk Rights Group.

At the outset of the meeting, chairman of the NMRG, Donie Shine briefly outlined their policies, which are a minimum of 33 cent per litre for the first 40,000 gallons of milk for every dairy farmer until 2013.
