57-acre non-residential farm well looked after

A FARM which has a bit of everything — from top quality paddocks to low-lying fields in need of drainage, is new to the market at Cloocugger, Caheragh, Skibbereen.

57-acre non-residential farm well looked after

A private treaty sale, the 57-acre, non-residential farm is being sold by Jim O’Brien of CCM Bandon, and he says the property is well laid out and well looked after.

Most of the land is good, save for 10 acres which need drainage, and as it’s divided by a public road, it has lots of road frontage. The property is a retirement sale (the main house is being retained), and the farm been let for a number of years, but is well maintained.

Jim O’Brien says he’ll go on the market for offers in excess of €600,000, or just over €10,000 per acre. He’s also prepared to sell in lots, which could make an acquisition by a local farmer quite affordable.

With farming doing relatively well despite the recession, now is as good a time as any for expansion, says Mr O’Brien.

He could be right: interest rates are expected to drop in the first quarter of this year, and banks look set to loosen the purse strings, following the Government’s latest bail-out. The farm is just a mile from Caheragh and seven miles from Skibbereen.
