SEPARATE bank accounts for payments from the Department of Agriculture are suggested for farmers anxious to keep full control of their funds.

Farmers are currently being asked by the department to provide details of bank accounts where they wish payments to be made. The “cheque in the post” is being phased out; all payments from next October can be made only to bank accounts.

Limerick IFA chairman Michael Roche has advised farmers in the county to consider setting up a separate account if they have concerns about payments going into their farm accounts.
