Superbug spreads among animals
It was reported that MRSA, most commonly associated with humans, has been found in domestic and farm animals, including dogs.
The British Veterinary Association predicted the number of recorded cases will go up as the bug becomes more common in animals. It is urging vets to adopt best practice and take precautions by using sterile gloves, masks and scrub suits during operations.
However, the incidence of MRSA in animals was “relatively low.” Over the past two to three years, between 10 and 20 cases were reported in Britain.
