SWS's growth continues with profits up 15% to €3.2m
This represents a 15% increase on the previous year's record figures and means the group has now achieved a 220% aggregate growth in profit over the last five years.
Chief executive Kieran Calnan said the group's strong financial performance is in line with the challenging targets it has set itself in its corporate plan.
The plan prioritised the areas of business process outsourcing, energy, biomass and waste as sectors that could achieve the scale and return on investment required by the group's ambitious growth strategy.
The group's natural resources division, which includes the energy, environmental and forestry business, had a particularly strong year and made significant progress in implementing its renewable energy strategy.
He said the energy side of the business made a lot of progress on the back of a number of strategic joint ventures and acquisitions in the Republic and Northern Ireland.
Mr Calnan said since the year end the acquisition of a waste transfer station in Youghal has taken place whilst other opportunities are also currently being evaluated. This sector has significant potential for the group going forward.
The forestry and environmental units also performed well and continue to contribute very significantly to the group's financial success. And so did the group's business process outsourcing division. Since year end it has succeeded in securing two more very valuable contracts with two very prestigious clients and even further growth is expected in the near future. It has now relocated to a modern building at the West Cork Business and Technology Park in Clonakilty.
