Mobile farm to visit schoolchildren

AGRI Aware’s new ‘farming in schools’ initiative, which Agriculture Minister Mary Coughlan launched in Lucan yesterday, will involve school visits by a mobile farm.
Mobile farm to visit schoolchildren

The self-contained unit holds a cow and her calf, a pig, sheep and lambs, some poultry and chicks.

These convey to children the food-producing nature of animals and allow them to discover that everyday food products they eat are sourced from the farm. A Bord Bia food display in the schools will illustrate to children the link between the farm and the food they eat, as well as encouraging them to eat healthily.
