Agri Aware chairman praises consumers

Consumers were praised yesterday for recognising the efforts of the farming and food industry by continuing to buy quality Irish produce.

Agri Aware chairman TJ Maher said the industry produces food under stringent environmental regulations, conforms to the highest food safety standards and sustains the rural economy by employing over 300,000 people. “Irish farmers work hard to produce food to the highest quality standards.

“When people sit down to enjoy their food this Christmas, they are also supporting an industry which is making an immense contribution to the country’s economy through food production and employment.”
