A 22-year-old Sligo woman, LornaO’ Dowd, is the winner of the 2004 Pfizer Veterinary Graduate of the Year Award.

The top veterinarian to graduate from the UCD Faculty of Veterinary Medicine this year, Lorna was presented with her prize of a travel research bursary valued at €1,300 at a meeting of vets in Dublin. Brian More O’Ferrall, Pfizer Animal Health, said despite their diversity, all of the award winners over the past 24 years share a legacy of excellence.

It takes tremendous effort to secure a place in veterinary studies and it takes a huge commitment to complete those studies, he said.
